A family story since 1974

Les Appâts Ste-Martine et Fils is a family business whose story began in 1964. At only nine years old, Richard Décary was already collecting worms for Portuguese customers in Montreal, developing an early passion for the trade.

In 1974, he founded his first bait company in Montreal. In 1984, he moved to Sainte-Martine and officially created the name Les Appâts Ste-Martine et Fils. The following year, in 1985, he bought a small warehouse in Saint-Michel.

Today, we operate five large warehouses at the same location, have 15 employees, distribute more than 12 million worms per year, and have become the largest bait supplier in Quebec. The business is now in its third generation.

For more than 50 years, Les Appâts Ste-Martine & Fils has supported anglers from Montreal, the South Shore, the North Shore, surrounding regions and Ontario.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Richard Décary, who died on October 19, 2022, at the age of 66, husband of Mrs. Nicole Brunet. In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his son Patrick (Nicole), his grandchildren Jacob, Rosalie and Gabriel, as well as many friends. Richard was a passionate and dedicated man whose work shaped the family business.
